It all starts with art.
Hi There. I’m George.
Here’s my story…
1980:
I was born.
Sugarhill Gang released Rappers Delight, AC/DC released Back in Black, and Joy Division released Closer. It was a good year for music. In the art scene folks like Keith Haring, Jean Michel Basquiat, and Jeff Koons were pushing creative boundaries and turning the art world upside down.
1993-1995:
Literally nothing cool happened to me until I was 13. On my 13th birthday my Dad bought me a drum set, and from that day forward I played them (MUCH to the neighbors dismay)… for hours on end. I found my “thing”.
1995-2005:
I joined a bunch of punk rock bands, and played really loud music. I helped book my first tour at age15, and happily spent the next 10 years playing music all over the place and working terrible jobs in between. I got my first camera as a gift, a Pentax from my grandfather, and took lots of pictures while touring around the U.S, and sleeping on a lot of random floors.
2005-2015:
At age 25 I got serious, and found a “real job” working in licensing and merchandising. Over the next 10 years, I helped independent and specialty stores sell roughly $80 million dollars in “funny” t-shirts. In between that time, I met the girl of my dreams, an Archaeologist from Iowa, and put a ring on her finger…real fast. Other highlights include playing chess with Jimi Hendrix’s brother once, hanging out with Howie Mandel on the set of Deal or No Deal, and also taking lots of pictures.
2015 -2021:
I branched off on my own and started a small consulting agency called Meter Merchandising. I also became a father, and spent summers traveling around the Mediterranean with my family. Along the way, I learned how to make some Greek food, and took a ton of pictures.
2022:
Covid has made the last couple of years weird for all of us. If you’re reading this, I’m glad you made it. I almost didn’t, but that’s another story. In February 2021 I was beyond burned out, so I started taking pictures of cool houses and buildings to connect more with my interests in architecture, which is where I am today. Happily spending my time working on verticals, focusing in on the details that make an image great, and traveling to see some really cool places.
